How to embed custom HTML on WordPress
What you are pasting
A widget snippet is HTML. It often includes a style block and a short script. After you save in Widgeti, copy that snippet. You can also paste code you already wrote or generated.
WordPress has two editors. The steps below are for the block editor, which is the current default. A short note covers the older classic editor.
Add a Custom HTML block
Open the page or post. Click the block inserter and search for Custom HTML. Paste the snippet into that block. Do not paste it into a paragraph block. The paragraph block will try to clean the tags and the widget will break.
Choose Update or Publish. Then open the page in a new tab, not only in the editor preview. Look at it on a phone width as well. If the spacing is wrong, edit the widget in Widgeti and paste the new snippet over the old one.
In the block editor, add a Custom HTML block and paste the snippet. Some security plugins, and some WordPress.com sites, remove script tags from that block. If the script is removed, the HTML and CSS can still stay, and a hosted embed from your Widgeti library is the other way to run it.
If you still use the classic editor
Switch to the Text tab before you paste. The Visual tab rewrites tags. Paste, then switch back only after the snippet is in place. Update the page and view it live.
Copy the code, or use a live embed
The snippet you paste is a copy. It stays on your WordPress site even if you later cancel Widgeti. It does not change until you paste again.
A live embed is different. Widgeti hosts it, and a save updates every page that uses that link. Free includes 1 live embed, with a small Made with Widgeti line. Pro and Business do not show that line.
Want to see the code first? Paste it on the try-it page. Saving it needs a free account.
